In case you're confused as I am about the current economic/housing/credit crisis . . .

I am appalled and worried about the government bailout of our nation’s banks, not finding it to be Consitutionally a function of the government to do such things.  The entire situation is very confusing to me, but I found a link just now that was very helpful.  It’s numerous pages (20) and takes some time to read, but incorporates live discussion from financial analysts, mortgage brokers, *and* homeowners so it is human enough to help you understand the situation. Keep in mind that these are financial and media people discussing the issue so the references aren’t always pristine, but it’s the most succinct explanation I’ve read or heard so far–the only one that seemed somewhat complete, actually.  This is the transcript of a program from Chicago Public Radio, produced in collaboration with NPR.

Great article – thanks for sharing. It's very sobering to see greed and a disregard of common sense played out on a global scale.

Misty, I just finished reading this transcript, and I must say that I found it extremely informative and, at the same time, extremely alarming. What a mess! Thank you for the info. I plan to pass it along.
