Core Learning is another company I learned of from my involvement with The TOS Crew! Bouguereau artwork sent me several examples of their products. We were very excited about the Crayola Art Studio. Paper seems to have a life of its own around here–literally. It’s alive, and it procreates, apparently, because there is always more on the table AFTER I’ve not looked at the pile for awhile! For my 6th grade son especially, this product was a big favorite.
The Art Studio program is full of fun ideas. It gives you 12 different "tools" to use on your artwork–pencil, watercolor, marker, etc. There are pre-set colors, or you can even mix your own! Since it’s digital, you can also create patterns extremely quickly, and change them with the click of a mouse. There are several hundred editable art images that you can also use, if you don’t want to be completely original. The CD costs $24.95.
Core Learning is about more than coloring, though. Here’s a note from their website:
Core Learning’s mission is to provide effective learning solutions for the development of fundamental knowledge and skills. Its primary focus of skill development is in areas that both support higher order thinking but also provide important life skills. Products address key elementary and middle school curriculum areas in math, English language arts, health, art, and technology. Core Learning also publishes software to help develop critical thinking skills and maintain mental processing capabilities in young and mature adults.
There’s curriculum available for health, grammar, and math, too! These programs are well organized and easy to use, and well-priced. There’s much more information at their website, www.core-learning.com . I think this site would be a great friend to any homeschool family!
