Royal Weddings–Who Cares, Anyway?

It was Friday morning, April 29th, 2011. The alarm clock went off at 4:45 am. I brewed vanilla chai tea, set out the blueberry scones, butter and strawberry jam, and turned on the television. BBC America, of course.

What a sight! Soldiers on horseback wore giant plumed hats. Crowds lined the streets, waving signs, cheering everyone who happened to pass by. Buckingham Palace … Westminster Abbey … Buildings that look like they came straight out of a fairy tale. Men in suits, ladies in beautiful dresses, crowding into the church . . . and all those crazy hats! I woke the girls around 5:30 and they gleefully joined me on the couch. We were all glued to the spectacle that was unfolding…
